BMJ Open Sports & Exercise Medicine (BOSEM) is an international, peer-reviewed Open Access journal devoted to sports and exercise medicine (SEM). Our overarching goal is to help our community make a difference in the overall health and well-being of our patients, athletes, and the global public. As an editorial team, we hope for BOSEM to be a place for discussions and knowledge distribution that supports our ongoing pursuit of SEM excellence. We intend to fulfill this role by publishing high-quality research that advances both academic and clinical SEM. All designs and methodologies will be evaluated, whether this is an original quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods study, a review, or a study protocol. This high-quality content must produce results that offer a clear solution or improvement in SEM practice. We cannot accomplish this without your help. After all, peer review is a cornerstone of academic publishing that allows us at BOSEM to determine whether a submitted work is appropriate for our journal and eligible for publication. A thorough review procedure enables us to maintain high quality standards and give credibility to the evidence we post for the community. Besides, as you probably have authored academic articles yourself, you know the difference that good reviews can make.
