BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine is an open access journal covering all aspects of sport and exercise medicine as well as associated areas such as physical activity for chronic disease prevention. We will consider a broad array of approaches and themes, from physiology and athlete return to play, to epidemiology, injury prevention, and measurement development and evaluation. We do not consider animal models and basic research. We aim to publish original research, reviews (in particular systematic reviews) and study protocols considered to be coherent and technically sound, ensuring that the latest research is reviewed and disseminated rapidly to a global audience.
